  • Makeup Mistakes That Could Be Making You Look Older

With all the cosmetic surgery options available today to improve our ageing faces, I would like you to have a look at the makeup your are wearing. The color and shades can have an effect on your overall appearance and make you look older than you actually are.

    Here are a few tips.

    Skin Color

The summer is upon us and we can make some fatal mistakes concerning our makeup choices. Some women end up looking they are wearing a mask because their foundation does not match their face and neck. Be careful not to choose a foundation that is too light for your natural skin color. Whilst you may be trying to create a natural look- it may have the opposite effect. It may look like makeup is just sitting on your skin, which can add years to your face.  Be careful of going too dark Going too dark, may create a heaviness that is just as aging. You will find that you may have a different foundation for season.

My tip to determine the right color- do not blend it too much, just tap it on your cheek, and try to not go any lighter or darker than your natural skin.

    Lipstick

Have you found it difficult to wear a deep red lipstick as you get older? As you age, you lose definition in your lips. Your lipstick should therefore add fullness. A dark color does just the opposite, making your lips look smaller, less plump, and less highlighted. Pastel or soft shades will have the opposite effect.  A good lip liner is also useful. A lip gloss will add a youthful plumpness.

    Defining the Eyes

As with your body it is important to create balance. Many women only like to apply eye liner to the bottom as it is too difficult to apply to the top. Applying eyeliner on the top as well will open your eyes up and brighten your face. However do not make the liner too thick, which can also be aging. Age appropriateness is very important here. Variations of creating a smokey look will also enhance your eyes.

    False Eyelashes

The latest trend in defining your eyes is eye lash extensions. They should be applied on the top of the eye lid only. This can add the same effect as eyeliner. A soft eyeliner to the bottom will balance out the look. We have come a long way since Marilyn Monroe. We dont want to look like we have come from Priscilla Queen of the desert. My tip -becareful when selecting the length of your extensions, too long and it will age you.

     Blush

Many women  Have a problem with choosing the correct color. The aim is to place it higher on your cheek bone to define and lift your features .Some women feel comfortable with a brown color because they think they are adding definition and contouring, but it can end up creating to illusion on running into the makeup itself, and being of no effect. Other women often choose a product that is too soft in color, which can wash you out and age you as well.

You may have heard of this before- the trick to find the right shade- pinch your cheeks and try to match the natural color that you get when you actually blush.
